1. Who operates, and are they a plastic surgeon?
Ask for the name of the surgeon who will operate and check their specialty. Look for national board certification in plastic surgery and, ideally, European certification (EBOPRAS) or membership of international societies such as ISAPS. Be careful if you can only talk to a sales agent and never to the surgeon.
2. Where does the operation take place?
Body and breast surgery under general anaesthesia should take place in a hospital with an intensive care unit, not in a small practice. Ask which hospital is used and how long you stay there.
3. What exactly does the price include?
Ask for a written quote that lists hotel nights, hospital nights, transfers, tests, garments, medication and follow-ups. A low headline price can grow quickly if these are extra.
4. Is the stay long enough?
Short stays save money but leave little time for check-ups. As a guide: tummy tuck about 7 days, mommy makeover 8–10 days, BBL 7–8 days, rhinoplasty about 7 days until the splint comes off.
5. How do they make a BBL safer?
For a Brazilian butt lift, international plastic surgery societies advise placing fat only under the skin, above the muscle. Ask the clinic directly how they ensure this.
6. Do they ever say no?
A good clinic will tell you to wait if your weight is not stable, if you smoke, or if a smaller procedure fits you better. If every request gets a yes, be cautious.
7. What happens after you fly home?
Ask how long aftercare lasts, who you contact with a question at night, and what happens if a revision is needed.
8. How and when do you pay?
Check whether a deposit is required and whether it is refundable. Paying on the day of surgery, after you have met the surgeon, gives you more control.
9. Red flags
Prices far below the market, pressure to book quickly, no named surgeon, very short stays for large operations, and before-and-after photos that cannot be linked to the clinic's own surgeons.
EBOPRAS-certified plastic surgeons who are ISAPS members operate in fully equipped partner hospitals. You receive a written, fixed price that includes hotel, hospital, transfers and follow-ups; you pay on the day of surgery with no deposit; and you get 1 year of online aftercare.
