For men and women with a good donor area and stable hair loss, especially when a larger area such as the crown or the whole top of the head needs grafts.
How is it done?
Under local anaesthesia, grafts are taken one by one with a tiny punch. The doctor then opens small channels in the recipient area at the right angle and direction, and the grafts are placed into them.
Alternatives and how to choose
FUE is the most widely used technique and the usual choice when a large area such as the crown or the whole top of the head needs grafts. Compared with the older strip method (FUT), FUE leaves no linear scar, only small dots spread over the donor area. For smaller areas where density matters most, such as the hairline, DHI is often preferred, and when shaving is not wanted, an unshaven technique can be considered.

Do I have to shave my head for FUE?
Usually the donor area and often the recipient area are shaved, because this makes taking and placing grafts more precise. For smaller areas an unshaven technique can be an option.
Will the donor area look thin?
Grafts are spread over the donor area so that it does not look thin. How many grafts can be taken safely depends on your hair density, and the doctor plans this before the procedure.
How long does fUE hair transplant take?
About 6-8 hours, under local anaesthesia. The time depends on your plan and any combined procedures.
Is fUE hair transplant painful?
Only the local anaesthetic injections are briefly uncomfortable; afterwards there is mild soreness.
When can I go back to work after fUE hair transplant?
Most people return to desk work after about 3-7 days; physically demanding work needs longer.
