Upper eyelid surgery removes excess skin that makes the eyes look tired; lower eyelid surgery treats bags under the eyes. Neither one lifts an eyelid that itself sits too low, that is ptosis and needs a different correction.
| Upper eyelids | Lower eyelids | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Heavy, hooded upper lids; skin resting on the lashes | Bags or puffiness under the eyes |
| Scar | In the natural crease of the upper lid | Just below the lower lashes |
| Price from, all-inclusive | €2,200 | €2,200 |
Upper and lower together
Many patients have both heavy upper lids and lower bags. Both lids in one session cost from €2,550, all-inclusive.

Excess skin or ptosis?
With excess skin, the skin folds over the lid, but the edge of the eyelid is still at a normal height. With ptosis, the edge of the eyelid itself sits low because the muscle that lifts it has weakened, often with age or after years of contact lenses. Removing skin does not correct ptosis; it is repaired by tightening that muscle, sometimes in the same operation. Your surgeon checks this at the consultation.
- The edge of the lid covers part of the pupil.
- You raise your eyebrows to see better, and your forehead gets tired.
- One eye looks smaller or more closed than the other.
If an eyelid droops suddenly, or together with double vision, headache or a weak face, see a doctor the same day.
